If you’ve been following me for awhile, you know I’m all about some self-care. However, I can’t always squeeze it in or indulge as much as I would like when in single-mom-mode. Shoot, I can barely keep the house in functional order when my husband is on the road!
Enter the amazing Dough-Dots!™
The other week I received a box full of the bright, new Dough-Dots!™, and my kids were close to putting out a bounty for my head if I did not give them immediate access. But I wanted to keep them stored away until I needed their potential power, until I needed some “me-time” or time to clean the house, meal prep, etc.
The kids won, though, and I caved. They received them on a sunny Saturday afternoon, and then again Sunday, Monday, Tuesday.. in fact, it’s how I’m even able to write this post right now!
Out of our trio, our eldest (6) and our youngest (almost 3) are our hands-on learners. They LOVE creating anything and everything! Our middle-man (almost 5) prefers electronics. However, these little Dough-Dots!™ have brought them all together over the last few days for HOURS at a time! It’s crazy awesome!
Seriously, I’ve been able to leave them to their own accord to open and close the cute little animal-decored balls without any assistance. Then they just play, play, play while I tend house solo. I even got to sit down yesterday and read for a full twenty minutes!?! All of this is HUGE in my book because rarely does an activity keep all three’s attention for more than five minutes and not require me to hover over them.
So what are these Dough-Dots!™? They are modeling dough, but they are softer and smoother than other doughs we’ve used (or made) in the past. They even smell super good (which was the first thing I noticed)! The storage balls are really easy to open and close, and they each have their own animal face on the outside, which can be used as a stamper.
The kids really enjoyed the ball-shape, too, as they were actually using the halves as a base for some of their creations (i.e. imaginary cupcakes).
Clean up was also easy. Just a few simple blotting techniques to pick up the little pieces of dough, then just roll the dough to fit back in the ball. I have noticed a slight oily-ish residue on the tables, but nothing that a wet wipe can’t fix!
I honest-to-goodness have no clue what it is about this cute little balls that have our kids extra-hooked, but hey! I’m in HEAVEN! Being able to keep them busy long enough to do my thing is priceless!
So if you are a mama to preschoolers and are on the verge of pulling out your hair because you’re overdue for some self-care, housework, or even a shower, you might want to check this magical balls out! They’re here to stay in our house, that’s for sure!
